Heat Wave

Just when we thought that summer was over, Toronto faced an unprecedented heat wave for two weeks. We literally haven’t had an enjoyable summer for the entire season since the weather kept swaying back and forth between a few humid days and chilly rain days. Definitely not what you call a good summer. While we were in Portugal, we received regular updates from our friends back in Canada that the temperature was dropping, and that we had left at just the right time. I wasn’t looking forward to coming back to sweater weather so soon after enjoying a week or two of sun and warmth. Luckily for us, the chilly temperatures didn’t last long.

I’ve recently begun playing with different techniques of lighting in my photography since I felt like I was falling into a rut with my content. Typically my photos tend to be shot outdoors in natural lighting, with high contrast but with every detail in the photo visible. I’ve been doing this for a few years now, and it’s starting to feel old. The thing is, it’s nice to figure out what your style of photography is, and it’s even easier to fall into the habit of using it every single time. Why? Because it’s a safe bet. I know that it’ll be the perfect recipe to ensure that my content comes out nicely. But that doesn’t challenge me. And lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve been settling.

Portugal Travel Diaries: 10 Things to do in Lisbon

Happy Tuesday! You guys seemed to really enjoy my last post on top 10 things to do in Marrakech, so I figured why not do one for Lisbon as well? We spent quite a bit of time in Portugal split between Lisbon, Porto, and Sintra that I might just do a specific post for each city. I feel like I may regret this once I start and find out that I have to write all of this 3 times over, but who knows, maybe I’ll enjoy it!

When we went on our trip a couple of weeks ago, we kicked off the first 2/3 of it in Portugal, and instantly fell in love with the country. We’re already making a list of all the places that we want to hit up the next time that we go back (the goal is in the next few years), and I’m so excited – probably even more than our next destination! Hopefully this speaks volumes of the phenomenal country, because there are literally no words to describe how much we love Portugal!

Dress – Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo / Shoes – Zara / Bag – Chloe (Reebonz) / Sunglasses – Covry / Bracelets – David Yurman (similar here), Links of London

I first learned of Olivia Palermo from the spin off show from The Hills – The City. The show didn’t exactly portray her in the best light, but I was instantly drawn to her for her perfectly put together outfits each and every single episode, regardless of the situation. Be it chilling at home, to interning, Olivia always looked perfectly put together and had a sense of class about her. Ever since discovering her from The City, I’ve been following her on social. A little creepy I know, but she’s stunning, her sense of style is impeccable, and did I mention that her husband is also a beautiful specimen of a male as well? Those two need to get together and produce some mini-me’s already because we’re waiting!

Morocco Travel Diaries: 10 Things To Do in Marrakech

Marrakech or Marrakesh, however you spell it, it’s a world of a difference from North America. I definitely wouldn’t recommend Morocco to the traveler unaware, or someone who’s just dipping their feet into the travel world because you definitely need to be comfortable with yourself, strange environments, different cultures, and easily adaptable. Truth be told, it’s a wonderous country with so much to discover, but it took me quite awhile to get settled in and comfortable with my settings before I felt that I could explore inhibited.

That being said, I have a phenomenal experience (and will be recapping it in a travel diary soon!), but wanted to highlight my top 10 must-dos for any future travelers that are considering Morocco as a destination.
