Although the summer may almost be over, there’s still lots of time to go traveling. Growing up with a tight-knit family to moving 5 hours away by myself (with P of course) makes for a lot of missed time that has to be made up by traveling back and forth on a bunch of different trips.
Constantly being on the road can seriously tire both yourself mentally and your skin, which makes it extra important that I maintain my beauty regimine even when I’m not home. Being the frugal person that I am, I like taking advantage of bulk-sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, face wash, etc. – the list goes on.
The only downfall to that is that then I’m stuck with large bottles of everything, which makes it a little difficult when I only want to bring enough product for a quick weekend camping trip with the family. Luckily that’s where travel sizes and travel bottles come in handy. Did I also mention that I get lazy as well? But there’s also a savior for that.
I’ve rapidly become a Kérastase convert when it comes to hair care after discovering the difference that their products make for my hair when compared to drugstore brands. I’m kind of a Nazi for making sure that my hair not only looks its best, but is at its best at all times as well. But big and clunky bottles are a no-go when I’m trying to pack as light as possible. I’ve been fiddling around with different lines and found some travel friendly sized bottles for their Discipline collection.
Fortunately for me, Discipline does the triple duty of not only cleansing my locks, but also restoring the shine, preventing any frizz/fly aways and making sure that my hair looks good without me having to use any extra products. I can say goodbye to my oils and hairsprays for a short period of time while I’m traveling and save myself some space in the luggage for souvenirs.
But for the other products that I can’t cut out of my routine, this little Samsonite 3-1-1 Toiletry Pouch has long been my savior. I typically like fill up these little 80 ml (airport security friendly!) bottles with body wash, lotion, and face wash. I don’t always fill up all 4 bottles since I don’t really need much else, but the extra bottle has sometimes come in handy for emergencies. What I love most about the bag itself is that it has an easy zip closure and is made out of plastic, which makes it extremely easy to rinse off any product that leaks or spills!
One of the most important things that I always bring with me when I’m traveling, is a package of facial wipes. I’ve vowed to never go to sleep without at least taking off my makeup, and on the laziest of nights, these Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes are my go-to when I can’t seem to make it to the sink. But as skincare goes, step one is for good skin is to always remove your makeup before going to sleep.
I use a waterproof mascara that seems to withstand most makeup removers (but somehow sweat still prevails), and let me tell you – these facial wipes can definitely strip it off of my eyelashes. Even without having to rub at my eyes for 10 minutes. All of the makeup goes straight to the wipe and off of my face. Which is what we want, is it not? Not only is it important to remove the makeup, but it’s important to be #kindtoskin at the same time.
But with all of this cleansing, it’s also always important to nourish your skin as well. I don’t know about you, but being a germophobe and constantly washing my hands or other things, my hands can tend to get dry. And dry hands are not happy hands.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my l’Occitane hand creams. But on days that I’m in a rush and on the go, I appreciate a hand cream that absorbs quick and doesn’t leave behind any oily residue. These Hand Chemistry lotions not only leave my hands feeling softer in the short term, but also keep them moisturized in the long term as well. I’ve recently been throwing the Intense Youth Complex one into my purse lately since it’s such a travel friendly size, and leaving the Extreme Hydration Concentrate by my bedside table for that extra boost at night.
