Birthday Indulgences

Birthday Indulgences

It’s been over a month since my birthday, and though I celebrated, I don’t think I had a chance to share what I wore. This year I had the luxury of celebrating twice. Once in Ottawa, and then once again in Toronto. Actually, now that I think about it, I think I ended up celebrating a total of 3 times since I did it twice in Ottawa. But who’s really complaining here, because I know that I’m not!

I’ve recently converted into granny mode and clubs have kind of lost their appeal to me. I’d rather spend the night with a close group of friends enjoying a nice meal and actually being able to hear each other as opposed to screaming over top of music.

Not to mention that I’m kind of out of the loop for the Ottawa nightlife scene, so I figured why not just grab dinner and call it a night? I made reservations at a recently renovated restaurant, Tomo,  and couldn’t have been happier with the decision to not go club-hopping.

Not only was the food amazing (you have to try the Kiss Roll if you ever go), but the restaurant kind of becomes a supper-club at night and the tables get pushed back so that the open space becomes a dance floor. Or just post and chill if you’re me.

Since the party was a little bit more low-key and not as crazy as I’m used to celebrating, I brought out the big-guns and decided to glam it up a little bit in the accessories department. Since things tend to get a little bit messy when you’re at a club, I never wear my nicer bags out. But since being smushed next to intoxicated people weren’t in the night’s plans, Chanel and Louboutin made an appearance.

For my birthday fit, I went for something that had a little bit of stretch (the food has to go somewhere), was comfortable enough for me to move around in should dancing be an option, and it all had to look good too. Combining all of those 3 components can get a little bit tricky to pull off in one outfit.

I was surprisingly able to pull it all together with these pieces, and was even more surprised that I made it out alive after triapsing around Byward Market in these heels. I’ve often heard that Louboutins aren’t the most comfortable shoes to wear, but for some reason these ones really pulled through for me that night. Safe to assume that these will most likely make a cameo in any future birthday shenanigans as well.
