Top 10 Favourite Coffee Shops of Toronto

Top 10 Favourite Coffee Shops of Toronto

I took a little bit of a hiatus from blogging and went to Mexico over the past week. Oddly enough I didn’t drink much coffee while there, which is completely out of my character. Coming back to Toronto signified the necessity of coffee in my daily routine and I realized that although I’ve visited many different cafes across the city, I’ve never once really shared my opinions or my favourites with you – my readers. And it doesn’t help that I constantly get asked which ones are my favourite. The problem is that whenever I’m put on the spot, I can’t really come up with which ones I like the best. So why not have it all in one place that I can easily refer back to for anyone who ever wants to know?

So without further ado, here are my top 10 favourite coffee shops in Toronto – and in no particular order, I simply organized them alphabetically for easier sorting. Who knows, if I’m not too lazy, maybe I’ll start ranking my favourite cafes in relation to areas of the city as well! Because although there are only 10 here, there are definitely a lot more that I’d highly recommend that you visit!

An #MDVPHoliday Staycation

December 21, 2016

We are mere days away from Christmas, which means tons of time off with friends and family. I know that this time of the year can be quite chaotic for everyone (heck I always feel like a chicken running around with its head cut-off), so what better way to destress than to plan a little staycation in the city? Team #MDVP (Mel, Dave, Vic, and Peter) decided to go on a little staycation of our own this past weekend and wanted to share our experience with you. Literally within a weekend, here is how we enjoyed our city at its finest and played “vacay” without ever having to drive outside of the city limits.

Distillery District X Love Lock

August 23, 2014

Distillery District X Love LockTo celebrate our anniversary, P and I spent the day together and included a walk to the Distillery District so that we could attach a lock to its Love Lock art installation. We had unfortunately forgotten to purchase a lock prior to walking to the Harbour Front. But luckily for us, one of the stores there, Biltmore Domicile, had locks for sale ($10, it wasn’t cheap!) and a station where we could decorate it before locking it to the trellis.

It was a bittersweet day as it would be the last couple of hours I got to spend with P before his return to Ottawa. Until the next time either of us visit, it will be the unfortunate case of long distance.

Toronto Zoo

August 21, 2014

Besides strolling around town with P, we took a trip to the Toronto Zoo to see some pandas. Our first measure of order was to try out one of the newest popsicle trends, Banana Pops. While eating the popsicle/ice cream hybrid, the outer peels can be stretched out and pulled down as if a real banana was being peeled. It was quite the entertaining snack but regardless of its merit, its taste didn’t live up to the fun.

On our path to see the pandas, we stumbled upon this adorable arctic fox. It happened to be asleep at the time we were visiting so I only managed to snap a photo of it cutely passed out on the ground. We quickly made our way to the pandas only to have one of them waddle around and then settle into a seemingly posed position. He stayed that way for at least 10 minutes while the everyone snapped away at him like paparazzi to a celebrity.

The other panda was not so much prepared. He was passed out over top of a waterfall with his face wedged in between a tree branch and a rock. Talk about the perfect life.

We finished the afternoon with a visit to a tea house for lunch which mostly resulted in me finally having the opportunity to try shaved ice for the first time. Flavor of choice? Why, mango of course!

A Change in Pace

June 26, 2014

Last week, I took the plunge of a lifetime for myself. I accepted an internship, packed up my belongings and moved from Ottawa to Toronto. The city 5 hours away from my home town is my new home for the next several of months. And if things go according to plan, hopefully my new and permanent home.

I’ve always loved Toronto and the fast paced atmosphere it’s downtown core offers. Compared to corporate Ottawa, Toronto has that and so much more to offer me. With a large majority of the nation’s creative core located in this city, I’ll finally have the chance to expand my blog and experience in the field of social media.

With the move, I’ve had to say goodbye to my close friends, family and boyfriend. But the 5 hour drive away won’t stop me from going home often to visit them. So far, I have trips planned for every 2-3 weeks to return home and visit my loved ones. The next one being next weekend, you can be sure I’m more than excited to see my family and friends. It definitely was hard the first couple of nights, but my loving boyfriend accompanied me here for the move and was able to stay with me for a couple of days. He helped me unload my belongings and reassured me that everything would be ok. At first I thought that the worst part would be adjusting from seeing him everyday to seeing him once every 2-3 weeks. I quickly realized that the moments we get to spend together would be much more appreciated this way and that our time together would be sweeter. In about a week I’ll be able to see him again and everyday I wake up feeling giddy knowing that I’m one day closer.

For the time being, we stay in touch mainly through iMessage and Skype. Even though we’re 5 hours away from each other, we’ll always be connected. Here’s how my past week in Toronto has been through a recap of my Instagram.

A Change in Pace
  1. Enjoying a bowl of ramen with friends the afternoon before I was truly to be on my own in Toronto
  2. A night out with the significant other a couple weeks before while arranging my future stay in the new city
  3. Enjoying creature comforts, well at least my creature comforts (love me some macarons!)

    A Change in Pace
    1. My favorite go to sandwhich when I’m trying to stay healthy. Is anyone interested in a recipe?
    2. I lightened my hair for the summer quite a few weeks ago
    3. Literally today’s outfit, plus a cute new gift from work! Thanks guys!

      A Change in Pace
      1.  I’m now obsessed with cold-pressed juicing but it’s so expensive! Doe anyone else have more affordable alternatives in the city?
      2. Spent an entire day strolling the harbor front with the significant other and another couple, one of the more entertaining days I’ve had in awhile
      3. Millie’s Creperie is hands down the best crepe shack in the city!
