Coffee Jaunts

Coffee JauntsI have a love hate relationship with Canada. Yes, yes, I’ve said it before in the past that I like the fact that we get 4 seasons. It’s because I can wear a variety of things throughout the year, but the one thing that I had the most about it is the transition. Going from winter to spring, and then spring to summer can sometimes be the biggest struggle ever.

Coffee Jaunts

The best way to explain it is probably with an example. You wake up in the morning and check the weather, find out that it’s going to be around 20 degrees in the afternoon (woohoo!) but then you step outside and find that it hasn’t quite warmed up yet. So then you go back inside before leaving and grab yourself a jacket so that you don’t freeze on your morning commute to work. By the afternoon it’s hot enough for you to be sweating out of every possible orifice of your body, but you have to still lug that jacket around everywhere because by the time you leave work to go home, obviously it’s going to be cold again. Get my drift?

And if that in it’s own isn’t an issue, the constant up and downs of the weather is such a downer as well. One day it’s warm enough to hit the beach in a bikini, and then the next day it’s windy and cold outside. It especially sucks when you’re trying to plan things with friends, only to have your plans fall through because of the terrible weather. And it sucks, because it’s almost June, but there are days when it’s cold enough that I still want to pull out my wool jackets – crazy eh?

Coffee Jaunts

Take for instance this past weekend and then yesterday. I spent the entire weekend in Ottawa with my family in some nicely humid, almost 30 degree temperatures, where wearing a silk dress even was the most comfortable thing that I was willing to put on. Fast forward to yesterday. Leaving the house at 8:30 AM to catch a bus, I noticed how chilly it was and ran back inside to top off my peacoat with a wool scarf. Strange how quickly the temperature can change!

It doesn’t help either that I’m trying to cut some coffee out of my system, since this cold weather has got me craving for warm beverages. I’ve guiltily snuck into some cafes along the way to work to grab myself something warm to drink (and to keep my hands warm too!). I know, I know, regression. But I’ll give it to myself just this one time.

And though I didn’t quite shoot this outfit this weekend, I haven’t yet had a chance to share it on my blog yet either. So I figured why not? On a day as chilly as yesterday where I was wearing the same jacket, it would only suffice to share a similar outfit, no? What’re your thoughts on this constantly changing weather? Do you hate it as much as I do? Or does it not affect you as much?

Thank you Feyi! Yep, transitioning through seasons sometimes makes me wish that I could carry my entire wardrobe with me everywhere that I go!
