Holiday Party Outfit – Girls’ Night Out

Holiday Party Outfit - Girls' Night Out

I’m proud to say that with 5 days out until Christmas, I’ve officially finished shopping for all of my gifts! It was certainly quite a satisfactory moment the minute that I landed my eyes on the last gift. If relief isn’t the right word to use to describe the emotions that I was feeling, then I don’t know what is.

A couple of days ago, I shared an outfit that would be perfect for a fancier holiday party. Floor length dresses are an instant choice whenever I have a more formal event to attend. But that doesn’t mean that all holiday party looks have to be formal!

If you and your lady friends are meeting up for a night of drinks, gift exchanges and laughs, you can definitely forgot the stiff collars and starched shirts. I personally like to let loose a little bit and show a slightly sexier side.

When it comes to dressing in the winter, I’ve often found that the top half of my body succumbs to the cold a lot faster than the bottom half. That being said, everything that I wear has to 100% cover my arms. I’m in love with this velvet mini dress from the H&M x Balmain collection for that reason! Not only are the sleeves long enough to encapsulate my arms, but there’s a slight collar to also mimic a turtleneck look as well (I’m all for more coverage in the winter).

I also love the fact that the material is a little heavier too. Wearing it outside, I didn’t feel as cold as if I had worn a regular cotton-stretch mini dress. Can we also stop and appreciate the intricate detailing that’s been burnt into the velvet?

Although the back has a nice gold zipper going down the length of the dress, I felt that the front needed a little bit of pizazz to break up the waist. I added a matching slim gold and black belt to do just that and was surprisingly impressed by how well it worked into the look.

And though I was satisfied with the level of warmth that the dress offered because of the full length sleeves, because it’s winter, I felt that it would only be right to finish off the outfit with my thigh-high black suede boots.
