LA Living: Sunshine & Sidesplit T’s

LA Living: Sunshine & Sidesplit T's

If you’ve been following my blog, then you’ll know that I mentioned a trip to LA a couple of times. I finally went this past weekend (my apologies for the lag in between the posts a few days ago). I don’t know what it is about LA, but everybody there seems to be so much happier and more positive. It might just be the significant difference in amount of sun that they are exposed to each day (snow clouds aren’t the happiest things out here), or if there’s just something in the water, but everyone I met greeted me with a smile.

I’d gone on the pretense of a work trip, but who can visit somewhere so nice without enjoying it on their own terms? And by my own terms, I meant taking advantage of the sunlight and warmth and shooting some outfits that won’t be seen back in Toronto for at least a few more months.

When I think of warmth, I think of the summer. And with summer comes brighter colors. For me, these colors are white. Well to make it clear, there’s only one color. In preparation to my trip to LA, I wanted to get ahold of some breezier pieces to pack into my suitcase that was both different yet easy to work into my closet. I came across this interesting white piece from Forever 21.

I’m not one for sidesplit T’s since they’re actually quite difficult to manage in day-to-day situations. When you sit down in a chair, it gets caught underneath you. Or when you kneel down to take photos for a friend, it runs along the floor and gets dirty. I also don’t wear anything with a sidesplit due to the nature of its lack of coverage. But paired together with these midrise jeans, I was able to minimize the amount of skin shown and evade a problematic lifestyle – so long as I was conscious about all of my actions.

LA has completely changed my perspective of the East Coast. I used to dream of living in a warmer climate that offers beautiful scenery on an everyday basis, but I’ve come to realize that the West Coast operates on a much different lifestyle. As much as I can appreciate the relaxed vibe of biking to work and dropping by the local market on the way home to pick up supplies for dinner, I have grown to love the chaos of the fast life in the East Coast.

Sure, being stressed all of the time isn’t considered healthy, but I love the craziness of my life. I love going from one thing to the next without a moments rest, and I came back with a renewed love for the fast-paced lifestyle of Toronto. It’s safe to say that following my gut feeling and moving Toronto was the best decision of my life. It’s not to say that I won’t be going back to LA some time in the future to relax when everything is too overwhelming. After all, the sunshine does you some good.

It’s is crazy the difference in lifestyle between the coasts. I’m glad you had fun in your visit to L.A.! I’m going to be visiting the east coast next month and am excited to get into the hustle and bustle of the area, hehe.

The shirt, the jeans! Love! I was also in LA back in August. I am so surprised how you managed to leave LA to come back to cold, cold Canada.

Thanks Annie! I definitely did not want to leave the warmth of LA behind, but sadly work calls. I do for sure hope to go back again in the future. Maybe next time I’ll get some more time to explore! Are there any places that you recommend that I visit?
