Today officially marks the last day of summer for 2015. And while it was great and we were given many beautiful, hot and humid days, I can’t help but be a little bit excited for the fall and for what it brings.

I used to equate this time of the year as a “back-to-school” period because it really was all that I could remember doing for the last 20 or so years of my life. It was only really last year when I finally finished my journey of school and began working full time.

So instead of bringing back out that knapsack (or I actually could since there are so many cute looking ones that also double as purses on the market right now), I kept out the purse and didn’t bother bringing out the sweats and the moccasins.

It’s a nice change to not wake up feeling lazy and pulling on sweats. Actually putting some thought into my outfit has been pretty great in regards to pushing my creative boundaries when it comes to maximizing my wardrobe options.

Thanks to being forced to think on the fly (I give myself about 20 minutes in the morning while I’m getting ready to figure out what I’m going to wear for the day), I’ve created a handful of different outfits without having to buy any new clothes for the past month. Sounds crazy, but it’s been working so I can’t hate on it! Though I wouldn’t mind going shopping just to see the new things that are currently in stores.

On one of my last shopping trips (about a month ago),  I grabbed these lace up flats from Zara online before they had a chance to hit the shelves in store.Boy was I glad that I did.

The moment that they were released, I couldn’t even get ahold of a single pair in my size. I’ve recently been pairing them up with almost every outfit since the lace up detailing instantly brings the simplest of outfits together. It certainly helps in the morning when I don’t exactly have the mental capacity to perfectly style an entire look.
