Morticia Addams

Sometimes I wake up in the morning knowing exactly what I want to wear, and can dress myself within a few minutes. On other days, I spend 5-10 minutes standing in front of my closet starring at the array of clothes strewn across my bed with no inspiration in mind whatsoever at all. Even after trying on multiple outfits, I’m left distraught after realizing that I can’t seem to put together a decent outfit. I pride myself in being able to remix my separates into a variety of outfits so that I can save some pennies here and there instead of going out and buying myself something fresh everytime I have an urge to.

This particular morning was one of those ‘I have nothing to wear‘ type of mornings, and rather than fall back on an already worn outfit, or creating something similar to past outfits but with different pieces, I decided to try something completely different. I’m a creature of habit and straying out of my comfort zone can sometimes be a little bit anxiety inducing. You can’t even begin to imagine my hesitation as I buttoned my dress all the way up to the collar. You don’t often see a fully covered look coming from a girl who loves to push the work-place boundaries by wearing a bandage bra underneath a blazer in public.

And it wasn’t even the weather that influenced a fully covered look either. I fully believe that if you don’t push your boundaries, you’ll never be able to realize your full potential. And this completely translates into your everyday attire as well. Rather than taking the safe route and falling back onto an already “Instagrammable” outfit, I tested out a Morticia Addams look in complete head-to-toe black (minusthe shoes). Plus, the sunnies helped to hide my unmade face since I had already spent so much time dressing myself. Nobody wants their reason of being late to work to be because they didn’t know what to wear in the morning. That excuse is almost on par with ‘my dog ate my homework‘. If cutting corners is going to help my situation and add to the overall outfit, then cutting corners it is.

And though the Morticia Addams look is completely out of the ordinary for me, I absolutely loved the change and can’t wait to try more outfits that are out of my comfort zone.
