Off Shoulder Top & Tassel Sandals

Off Shoulder Top & Tassel Sandals

I’ve really been loving this off-the-shoulder trend that’s been blowing up recently. Ever since I was younger, I’ve always hated my broad shoulders and have always tried to hide them as much as possible.  Having wide shoulders means that you look like you’ve only been working out the upper part of your body without bothering with leg day. Except the problem is that I actually work out my legs more than my upper body. Clearly I didn’t want the opposite effect.

So this whole trend that revolves around exposing your shoulders and embracing them is kind of like a dream come true for me. You’d think that it’s the last thing that I’d want, but that’s actually not the case.

Strangely enough, my shoulders look drastically less broad since my shirt hangs below it in a billowy silhouette. It’s surprising how much more comfortable I felt about my shoulders in this top since its trapeze shape made them a little bit less broad and more feminine.

Inspired by the gauzy and drapey white fabric, I wanted to recreate an outfit that I’d want to wear while exploring the beaches of Greece. It’s actually a dream of mine to travel to Greece, so if anyone has an extra ticket that they need to get off of their hands… y’know, I’m available!

An obvious must have for any Grecian explorer is a solid pair of lace-up gladiator sandals. I recently picked up these super fun pair of tassled sandals from ZARA during their bi-annual clearance sale and felt that they’d pull together the outfit nicely.

My thoughts were confirmed when I actually put on the whole outfit and saw just how cohesive it all was.

Not wanting to detract from the top (since it’s the star here), I went for some high-waisted cutoff shorts. If they were any shorter, they would start to borderline on looking like undergarments. But that’s also a trend now too right?

What with the lacey peekaboo bras and all, why not do the same thing with your bottoms? Just kdding, it’s not something that I’m seriously considering.

I couldn’t help but inject some modern vibes into my outfit with a silver envelope clutch that I stole from Mel. The structural design of it perfectly offsets the swingy shape of the top along with the fringed tassels of the sandals. Now all I need is a trip to Greece to really put this outfit to good use!
