Top – Zara // Denim – Mother // Heels – Windsor Store // Bag – Celine // Sunglasses – Covry

We’re going to go a little off the regular tracks today with something I haven’t quite shared on the blog yet – a one shoulder top. By now, you’ve probably seen me in a myriad of off-the-shoulder tops. I won’t lie, I’m kind of obsessed, and I’m glad that the trend isn’t going anywhere. These breezy tops are epitome of summer comfort, but nothing is ever perfect. Although I’ve been wearing the OTS tops nonstop, I have quite a love-hate relationship with them.

OTS tops are definitely cute in theory, but in hindsight they’re a pain to wear. Some have elastics so tight that they almost cut off the circulation in my arms. Then there are others that are on the opposite end of the spectrum that are so loose that I can hardly move without risking flashing the entire world. Then you have the ones that simply don’t want to stay put regardless of whatever you do to them. You raise your arms, and both sides shoot up to create an elasticated boat neck. The world really isn’t a perfect place.

At first I was determined to find the perfect OTS top and struggled for months trying on one top to another. After awhile, I slowly accepted that it wasn’t going to happen – until I stumbled onto this one-shoulder top from Zara. Or kind of. I most definitely searched out for it, so stumbled probably isn’t the best choice of words.

Only half-mimicking a complete OTS, this top is definitely my go-to alternative when I’m too lazy to deal with the additional detail that wearing an OTS requires. If you cut off the additional shoulder fabric, you can definitely envision an OTS. I love the ruffled detailing of the sleeves and the starchiness of the fabric. Now the only other thing to do is to locate more of these so that I can finally lay my OTS tops to rest!
