I consider myself a bit of a chameleon, both inside and out. I’ve been told that I get along well with others, and it’s true. I don’t often dislike anyone that I meet, and even when I do, I try my best to keep it to myself so that the relationship if at best remains neutral. Why? I’ve always felt the importance of maintaining a positive relationship with others. Even if there’s a negative attribute towards another person which I don’t agree with, what’s the point in wasting my time fussing over it? I can’t change it, instead I can make the best of it and hope that it works out in the end.

My chameleon-like outlook on life often extends into my style as well. Ever since I was younger, I was never quite able to pinpoint my specific style. When others asked how I liked to dress myself, I was always at a loss for words. The answer always on repeat was “whatever I felt like wearing this morning”. Which begs me to ask the question “why have just one set style”? I like, like many other consumerists, enjoy different trends that emerge throughout the year. Many don’t fall under one particular category, so it’s difficult for me to enjoy them all yet still categorize myself.

I find it best to manipulate trends so that they aren’t wearing you, but rather that you’re wearing them. That went for this situation of black and white. Found all over runways as of late, I too absolutely love black and white. But besides that, I also enjoy adding just a tinge of color to the mix. By now you should know that I’m a fairly neutrals kind of girl – and I consider metallics to be neutral as well (don’t judge).

So when putting together this preppy-inspird look, I instantly knew that my H&M panther shirt would be the perfect match to layer over my white blouse. Creating that perfectly cropped layer and preppiness in one look, not only did I manage to achieve the black and white trend I love, but I inserted in my obsession with functional versatility.
