The Princess Skirt

The Princess SkirtEver since I was young, I have always been in love with Disney Classics. Obviously I fell hard for all of the Disney princesses, and being the young impressionable girl that I was, I dreamed of becoming one. My absolute favorite had to be Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. Her beautiful hair, beautiful horses and fairy tale of a dream kiss – what more would any girl want? For one: I wanted her dress. That beautiful pink dress that she wore. It looked so feminine, delicate and well, princessy. I just knew that I had to have it. Unfortunately, you do not wear dresses like that in real life. So instead, I decided to recreate my version of the dress into something more applicable for everyday wear in the modern age.

The Princess SkirtLuckily for me, midi skirts seem to be popping up everywhere this year, so I was able to get my hands on a full bodied skirt in a beautiful blushing shade of pink to match that of Aurora’s. I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit as neutral as possible to retain that delicateness of the pink, and decided to add a watch into the mix. I was recently gifted a leather Fossil watch from P for Christmas, and it’s in the perfect shade of beige to match the rest of the look.

I also pulled out this grandma of a sweater out of the depths of my closet to ressurect it and give it new life. The gilded knit paired well with the sandiness of the watch, but ultimately the outfit needed something to make it all pop. The shoes. Albeit they’re a little bit dirty, these are my work-horse night on the town shoes that are not only comfortable, but were a steal in the sale section of H&M for only $7. Outfit complete, it was safe to say that I really did feel like a modern day princess.
