A Staycation at Le Germain

A Staycation at Le Germain

A couple of weeks ago, P and I did a little staycation with Le Germain. It’s always the hardest to adjust back to the regular life immediately after the holidays so we felt that it would be nice to extend the vacation a little bit—all while in the city. The only other time that we’ve stayed at a Le Germain was back in July when we attended the Calgary Stampede with GMC. We had such a great stay that I instantly knew that our visit to the Toronto location would be just the same.

I’ve been to their in-house cafe (Victor Cafe) before with a great experience, but never dined at their restaurant or stayed in one of their rooms. To some, the idea of a staycation may be strange, but it’s actually extremely gratifying to take a little vacation within your city without having to pack up your entire life. Whenever I travel, one of my biggest pains is over packing out of pre-emptive stress of potentially forgetting my belongings at home. The great part about taking a staycation? You’re essentially always close enough to home that if you ever actually do forget anything, there’s no stress.

We’ve done a few other staycations in the city before, at the Shangri-La, and the Sheraton, with both Mel and Dave, and felt that it would be fun to do it with some additional friends! Together with Mel, Dave, and P, we also took in the weekend with our friends Monika and Jeremiah. After checking in, we did what every blogger does, take photos! True to blogger form, all 6 of us spent the entire afternoon exploring the hotel, and taking pictures to our hearts’ content. After all, it didn’t happen unless you took a picture of it right? Of course, I have more than enough photos to prove that our staycation at Le Germain happened. With a place as beautifully designed like that, it’s hard to not want to take a few pictures here and there.

With all that said and done, we settled in for drinks at the bar and restaurant. I have to confess, I’ve been obsessed with gin sours lately, and the staff at Victor Restaurant make a mean gin sour. So if you’re a gin addict like I am, order it—no seriously, order it. You won’t regret it. What we had originally planned to be for a quick night cap before settling in for the night turned into a 4 hour chat session among the 6 of us. All that with 1 drink. Seriously, get the gin sour.

After waking up the next morning to a wonderfully laid out breakfast in the restaurant, the girls and I did our last glow-up session before checking out to head back home. Though we only stayed overnight for 1 night, I seriously wished that we had time to stay longer thanks to the ridiculously comfortable beds. Nothing helps a good night’s sleep like a comfy mattress.

If a staycation is up your alley (January is always a hard one!) and going away on a far off and long vacation isn’t something that currently fits into your schedule, Le Germain currently has a great package specifically for staycations—the longer you stay, the more you save! And you can easily head straight to work—if you work downtown that is—after a weekend stay at the hotel. So what’re you waiting for? You deserve that staycation!

Thanks Michael! It was quite the lovely stay, we had so much fun! I would highly recommend them for accommodations if you were to ever visit Toronto! Hope that you have a lovely Tuesday as well!
