The Classics Deux

The Classics Deux

I got such an overwhelming reaction from my last post about classics that I decided to share more of my go-to pieces! Although I’ll be forever buying new clothes and adding new things to my closet, there are always going to be a couple of hero pieces that I can’t stop reaching for.

The Classics Deux

I never thought that I’d be one to love camel because it’s so basic. But it’s basicness is what drew me in to begin with. Looking back, I don’t see how I ever survived without this jacket. I pretty much wear it everywhere I go – provided that it’s not too cold. But I’m trying to think back to when and how I existed without this jacket, and it’s difficult to picture the outfits that I put together.

Another piece of clothing that’s become a standard recently are turtlenecks. This marled-grey one in particular has been quite the standout. And surprisingly, not for the colour, but for its length.

Most of my sweaters seem to hit at my waist, but this one just so happens to go past my butt (just a little – but that’s all that matters). Which is amazing when it comes to the winter time because I get that little extra coverage and warmth around my nether-regions.

Trust me, when it’s this cold out, you’ll take any extra piece of fabric to save your butt from the icy breeze. Especially when you’re planning on wearing sheer culottes like I did. This outfit was definitely not a smart move on such a chilly day, but I’ve been dying to put this outfit together for the longest time ever so the weather can wait.

You guys probably remember this print from my matching set that I wore back in the spring/summer. I’ve been wanting to  put together an outfit with just the culottes for the longest time ever and finally styled one – only for it to be a little bit too cold outside to wear it all day long.

I only got the chance to wear this outfit for a couple of hours before I decided that it wasn’t worth it in the cold. But rest assured that I’ll be sporting this look again once the snow melts a little and the air warms up a bit.

I wanted to create a nice contrast between the variety of layers and muted neutrals so my ZARA boots were an easy-go-to. You guys could probably already tell that these boots are definitely one of my classics – I basically wear them in every second outfit.

You’ll probably be seeing these black booties quite a bit more through the winter season as they’re double dutying of both keeping me warm and looking good. Which means that they’ve earned themselves a place in my collection of classics.

The only other classic that I’ve yet to mention is my obsession with dark lips. I don’t know if it’s the time of the year, or if I’m just recently really been getting into dark lips, but I can’t stop wearing them. I’d probably say that about 50% of the time that I’m wearing a lip colour, it’s most likely something dark.
