As an advocate for cost efficient fashion, it’s always fun to find new ways to wear clothes. Whenever there’s a zipper or button spanning the top to bottom of a shirt, there’s bound to be a way to wear it differently. Besides turning my NYE top into an everyday jacket, I came upon the idea to turn this sleevless dress into a long, collared vest.

I’ve been looking for a structured black tuxedo vest, but all of the ones that I’ve come across have been too wide for my shoulders. Zara had one at a great price during the holidays, but I ended up passing on it because it wasn’t the right length for me. In the mean time, until I find the perfect vest, this convertable dress will have to do the trick. I’ve actually really enjoyed pairing it down with other light fabrics for a breezy yet comfortable look. The length also helps to elongate my legs as well as adding some height.

I’ve been really into layering pieces to add dimension to a minimal look, so having pieces that are of various lengths has been great for experimenting. Layering has also made it easier on my slow transition to a monochromatic palette since all of the colors easily go together, but can sometimes fall flat when colors and textures are too similar. Regardless of the fact, browns, beiges and blacks will forever continue to add themselves to my wardrobe and the versatility of several pieces have proven themselves crucial to creating new and exciting oufits each morning.
