The Window Pane

The Window PaneI think it’s fair to predict that the print of the year is most likely going to be the “window pane“. I’ve seen it everywhere from tops to bottoms, and from jackets to scarves. Although I’d like to say that I’m not a huge trend follower, this one is definitely making a strong appearance in my style. What makes it work, is that it so effortlessly blends into the rest of my wardrobe as a fresh version of the traditional plaid, which can sometimes pull a little bit towards the cottage-esque. I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with looking like you stepped out of an Eddie Bauer or Roots ad, but you can’t exactly wear flannel or plaid into the work place without turning a couple of heads. Albiet those are some of my comfiest shirts, I’ll save them for the right time.

But first off, let’s point out the obvious. This shirt is a little bit more casual then I’d like it to be, but silk shirts aren’t exactly within my current price range (although I’d love to get my hands on one). However, it isn’t exactly flannel (it’s a brushed cotton), so I can get away with wearing it to the office – provided that it’s accessorized with the appropriate thins.  I chose to go with my heeled combat boots which I can’t seem to stop wearing lately. The height added a little bit of sophistication back into a rather flat outfit so that it didn’t all scream “I just grabbed whatever was on my chair“. Pulling it all together with my new favorite cateye sunnies, I felt like the window pane print was less drab and a little bit more on the cooler side. And by cool I don’t mean that I’m cool, because you know I’m not.
