Winter Skincare Routine

Winter Skincare Routine

I’ve never really been one to change my skincare routine depending on the time of the year. But over the past year, I’ve noticed changes to the condition of my skin as it reacts to the different weather from summer to winter. Call it getting old and losing collagen, or call it finally paying attention to my skin’s needs. I’ve finally realized that I needed to change up my routine in order to maintain baby-butt soft skin and to avoid the peeling dry flakes.

I’m typically the type that likes to spend the least amount of time on my face as possible, because let’s face it – I like my beauty sleep. And sleeping in as late as I can in the morning is what I’d rather be doing instead of spending time on my face.

That being said, I’ve also learned that the care you put into your skin is the quality that you get back. The more effort you put into taking care of your skin, they better it’ll look.

Take into account Korean skincare. It’s been known that their routines incorporate a variety of steps, but it’s important to note that each and every single step is for a different purpose. You’d never think that your skin could handle so many products until you start seeing the results of your newfound lengthy routine. Sure it’s a commitment to be able to put aside that much time each morning and night, but it certainly does pay off.

I was recently introduced to Elizabeth Arden products and was curious to see how their emphasis on Korean style skincare translated into products designed for North America.

While I’ve only had a chance to use the products for one month, I’ve seen a tremendous transformation in the quality of my skin.

Instead of cleansing my face with a drying wash, I went against my instincts and gave the Ceramide Replenishing Cleansing Oil a spin. I’ve found that it works wonders because not only does it dissolve and remove my makeup, but it doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry and taut as well.

Once my skin is clean and ready to go, I like toning it with the Prevage Anti-Aging Antioxidant Infusion Essence by using a special technique called cupping. I found out that while toning your skin is important, the method of applications is the other half of the equation that people tend to forget about. It’s all about the warm skin-to-skin contact so that the heat from your hand helps to absorb the essence into your skin.

By now you’re probably wondering how exactly do you cup the essence? It’s actually quite easy. Envision those skincare commercials where the model is splashing water onto her face by first cupping her hands under the sink to collect the water. And then she brings it towards her face. That’s the gist of cupping, because you actually want the essence to stay on your skin, not fall off.

And from there my skin care differs depeding on the time of the day. If you’re interested in seeing the differences between how my routine changes between night and day – read on!

But otherwise the other Elizebeth Arden product that I’ve been obssessed with is the Ceramide Overnight Firming Mask. I’ve always been a fan of sheet masks, but the one downer of them is that you can’t move your face, and you risk falling asleep before you’re ready to take it off. Both are bummers. But with the Overnight Firming Mask, you apply it like a cream and let it soak in overnight to do its job.

Trust me when I say that your skin feels like it regains its elasticity by morning. You’ll literally wake up with skin as taut as a baby’s bottom.
