Another Go At Pink

Ever since I’ve been back from Vegas, the weather in Toronto has been gloomy. It’s almost as if the skies are trying to tell me that I belong back where the sun comes out all day and that I shouldn’t have come back to the cold East. Luckily for me, I’ll be leaving in a week to go on a cruise to Bermuda with my family and I can’t wait to be back basking in the warmth of the sun and wriggling my toes in the sand.

But since the cold weather is here to stay for a little while longer, I might as well take advantage of it. Pink might not be forecasted to be a trend till next season, but I won’t know whether or not I have enough in my wardrobe to support it if I don’t give it a couple test runs first right? I already have a couple of different outfits on hand, but it never hurts to create a few more (especially for different scenerios).

My last pink outfit was a little bit more on the edgier side since the color was incorporated through the use of my moto-jacket. This time I felt that it would only be appropriate to go in the complete opposite direction, so I pulled a 180. Going for a more demure and comfortable look (and when I say comfortable, I mean an outfit that actually allows me to move my arms around instead of being confined to a certain radius), I pulled out one of the oldest sweaters that I own – a pale, baby pink loose knit, asymmetrical slug. There’s no sweater that can be any looser than this one. It’s almost impossible to wear it as a sweater alone without feeling exposed – like you’re walking around in the nude – which calls for some layering to happen underneath.

You’ll know by now that layering is almost like an art to me in the sense that it allows me to combine different materials togther to give an outfit more depth without having to rely on graphics. It’s been a couple of days since I played around with some silk too, so I slipped into my silky long tank before getting snug in my sweater.

But what’s a comfortable outfit without leggings? Leggings are the epitome of comfort, but I have this strange aversion to cotton woven ones. On any given day, you’ll see me wearing my immitation leather ones, or these Under Armour workout leggings that both shape my legs and move fluidly. My liquid leather leggings have seen better days, so they’ve been retired for a couple of months now. Since the only available choice was my workout ones, I grabbed for them without a second thought.

Already feeling like a ballerina in the gentle shade of pink, I knew that the perfect complement to the ensemble would be a bun. Not a high and aggressive bun, but a low and loose one. Typically I like my buns to be as tight and as close to my head as possible, but the relaxing factor of the outfit called for something a little bit more casual – so a loose bun it was.

Looking from top-to-bottom of my outfit, I knew there was something lacking. There was a missing special factor that couldn’t be changed, and the only thing left to finish it all off was a pair of shoes. I dug back out these floral printed ones that I’d purchased last fall, only to store them in a box over the winter due to their lack of warmth. Now that the weather has warmed up a little bit (not significantly, but enough that the snow is all gone), they can gloriously make their way back into rotation as my winter boots (*cough*Uggs*cough – I only wear them during my commutes for the warmth) go back into hiding.
