Borrowed From the Boy: The Sweater Dress

Borrowed From the Boy: The Sweater Dress

Sweater – Bench. // Trench – Banana Republic (another one I love) // Boots – Stuart Weitzman

Happy Monday! I hope you’re all starting off the week with an amazing day because I know that I am. I’m starting a new adventure (that I can’t wait to share, so hold on – I will soon!) this week and I’m beyond excited, so this might be the first time in awhile that I’m happy for a Monday. In the mean time,  I wanted to share something else, a new discovery of mine that I made this past week.

You guys already know that even though I work closely with Bench., I’m genuinely a huge fan of their attire since it’s so comfortable but also trend-appropriate at the same time. Although I’ve often been described as girly, there are times when I can appreciate a relaxed and athletic fit.

We just received our first snow fall this past weekend, which means that winter is officially here, even though that it’s still considered fall according to the calendar. Ever since fall kicked in, I’ve gone straight into full snuggle-mode. Meaning lots of knits and cozy sweaters.

This weekend was a little bipolar of sorts. We went from 20 degrees one day to -5 and snow the next. Okay, that realistically had nothing to do with this post, I just wanted to share how quickly it went from fall to winter.

Back to the topic at hand – sweaters. I always seem to find sweaters perfectly, but sweater dresses – not so much. Every time I try on a designated ‘sweater dress’, it never seems to fit me right. They’re either too fitted, or overly loose to the point that it looks like I’m wear a paper bag. I’m all for reading The Paperbag Princess, but not being one.

I decided to take matters into my own hands, and to turn a mens’ sweater into a dress by throwing one on without bottoms, but hiding the skin with some thigh-high boots. The result? Gold. I’m beyond impressed with the way that this sweater dress turned out. Not only is it snuggly like any other sweater, but it falls at just the right length to not feel too paper baggy. And the added bonus, it’s just loose enough to lend some shape to my body without turning bodycon. I might as well call this the Goldilocks of sweater dresses.
