What Kind of Bride Are You?

What Kind of Bride Are You?

Happy Friday! I hope you enjoyed reading all about my engagement story yesterday! I already have so much exciting content produced that I can’t wait to share it all with you but I wanted to kick start off our wedding journey with some fun pre-planning that I did a few weeks ago!

Ever since Peter and I got engaged, I’ve been getting crazy wedding fever and everything that I see and do has revolved around wedding planning! I sincerely hope that for my friends’ and family’s sake that I don’t turn into a bridezilla. I seriously doubt that I will since I’ve never quite been the type of person to have an entire Pinterest board dedicated towards wedding planning. I already have a rough idea in my head of what I like and dislike, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for me to materialize my thoughts. Though it does still help to create moodboards and to read up on some tutorials online to give myself a better idea of how exactly I want my wedding to pan out.

But first things first, because before I can even begin looking into venues or picking out colours, I’ve been told that the most helpful thing to do is to determine what your style is. Until getting engaged, I didn’t even realize that there could be different types of brides! All I knew was that I wanted a really whimsical theme with lots of foliage. But what exactly does that mean? There are so many different types of brides that you can be: modern, boho, rustic, classic, the list goes on!

After taking a quiz on BeMakeful.com to find out exactly what type of bride I would be, I learned that I leaned towards the boho type. In full transparency, I did the survey a few times tweaking my selections to see if my results would change, and found that 95% of the time I ended up with boho. The other 5% resulted in modern, so if we want to get specific, I guess you could say that I’m a modern-boho bride?

So exactly does a modern-boho bride consist of? According to BeMakeful.com, this is what would appeal to me for being a boho-bae:

“We bet your big day will include an outdoor setting filled with love, peace, and floral crowns. Here are some ideas to spark more whimsical magic for your big day.”

And I couldn’t agree more! I’ve always envisioned myself getting married in an outdoor set up with lots of floral crowns and greenery everywhere. But the thing is, I’m not completely boho since there are so many other facets about myself that I’d love to be able to incorporate into my wedding as well. Such as pop music, some over-the-top boujee heels, and most likely lots of amazing cocktails! Which led BeMakeful.com to also grace me with the result of the modern gal:

“We’re guessing your big day will be filled with bold statement pieces, and vintage accents in a room fit for a princess. We hope these pieces will encourage just that.”

Which is also a complete fit for me as well since I most definitely chose Meghan Markle as my style icon for that portion of the quiz and she is about to become a princess in her own right quite soon! So it seems like BeMakeful.com pretty much hit the nail on the head for me in regards to my bride style. And I can definitely vouch that after browsing through their suggested themes for the two bride styles, I could really see myself meshing many components from both of them together! I’ve already began to bookmark a few pages such as an adorable flower crown DIY (which I am absolutely going to test out this summer!), mirrored accent decor ideas, and another DIY—a ridiculously beautiful canopy-lit ceiling. I’m sure that as I dive deeper into the wedding planning that I’ll end up with an entire folder full bookmarks, but that’s a start right? It’s better to have some concrete ideas listed out as opposed to hoarding them all inside my head!

So what’s the next step you ask? Well now I think that it’s about the right time to create a mood board with all things modern-boho to determine exactly what I like and what I need to accomplish next. I can’t wait to continue sharing the entire process of wedding planning with you and hope that you enjoy joining me on this journey! If you’re also planning a wedding for yourself, or thinking of getting married (a girl can dream right?!), try out the quiz too and let me know what you get! We could end up being bride-twinsies!
