Turning The Tables

Turning The Tables

You may not know it, but the person behind many of my shots is P. He’s been a mainstay of my blog ever since I first started and I definitely have to credit him for a lot of the opportunities that I’ve received. If it wasn’t for him, my blog would definitely not be where it is today. So when I recieved an offer to try out an online reservation service, Resurva, to book a complimentary cut and shave, the only possible answer was ‘yes’. It was the right time to start turning the table and have P on the other side of the lens for once.

It was pretty simple booking our appointment with Garrison’s Barbershop. Besides offering the typical options such as picking a time and date, Resurva also allows you to see which stylists are available. Or if you already know who you want, you can even search through their schedule specifically. I would recommend calling ahead on the day of your appointment though to confirm the time, as we ran into a little bit of a slump when our appointment didn’t turn out to be the same time that we had booked it for. We gave the situation the benefit of the doubt that there was a glitch in the system, but it never hurts to confirm.

Garrison’s itself was fantastic. We had chosen Cecilia after hearing rave reviews from friends and her services did not disappoint. P is a fanatic about his fades, especially skin fades, and ever since moving to Toronto, he’s been on a quest to find a new stylist to take over his hair from Ottawa. The overall result was even with a nice gradual flow from the crown of his head to the base, so it’s safe to say that he was pretty satisfied with the cut.

But besides a cut, P also opted for the hot shave service. Mind you, P doesn’t exactly have a full on beard, but it’s nice to be able to experience the whole package every once in awhile. After first steaming his face with a hot towel to open up the pores, and then having his facial hair taken off, the whole process came full circle by wrapping things up (pun completely intended!) with an ice cold towel to close back up his pores.

It was nice to be able to spend time with P on a manly grooming day out as opposed to having him accompanying me on my errands. Turning the tables is something we enjoy doing to share quality time together, but to change things up a little bit as well so that we’re not always doing the same thing over and over. Everybody needs that little bit of TLC every once in awhile to really slow down, relax and enjoy life for its finer things.
